This is the local artist hangout. To say it is an eclectic mix of [insert a noun here as I am not entirely sure what to call some of it] is an understatement. On the other hand, it is a great place to listen to some mellow music and have a beer with friends...which is just what we did last night.

OK...I really hate clowns, but the lighting was so perfect for this picture that I had to take the shot!

Surprise! You get a news story with a headline that could have been written by the venerable Hunter S. Thompson:

Have a few days off from work, so am getting in a little extra hiking

If you are wondering how I got this close to this bird, it is because it was stalking us half way down the trail!

Photobucket
Ditto for this hawk which actually flew into a tree directly over where we were parked after it saw us with the cameras. The birds at this park are very curious!

Gulfport is probably one of the most eclectic, diverse communities in the country. I think you'll see why...

Photobucket
This retirement community apparently is armed to the teeth.

Photobucket
Not sure if they are preparing for an armed conflict with North Korea or with this bunch of aging hippies.

Photobucket
Yes, that is a transvestite in a cheerleader outfit.

And, no, I am not sure if he is aware that he still has the price tag on his head gear.

27th-Jun-2009 07:11 pm - Amish Farmer's Market
After the park we went to an Amish Farmer's Market. They had an open barn where you could go in and hang out with the goats, sheep, chickens, etc.

You're never too old for the petting zoo :-)

Photobucket
But there's always one in every crowd who starts to eat your clothing.

Photobucket
Looks like the attack of the zombie sheep. Actually that particular sheep was a tad belligerent.
